Physiotherapy

Within Meshi’s holistic circle of care, physiotherapy teams strengthen each child’s neuromotor functioning —expanding their capacity for independence, mobility and active participation in daily life.

Meshi’s physiotherapy teams focus on the re/habilitation of the neuromuscular-skeletal system—working to expand each child’s capacity for optimal physical functioning.

They employ diverse and innovative therapeutic methods, integrating advanced technologies to inspire movement and promote targeted goals in neuromotor functioning—such as balance, coordination, endurance, posture and range of motion.

Applying the Meshi approach, physiotherapy plans are tailored to each child and aligned with their multidisciplinary program—while the allocated hours often exceed public funding by a wide margin. Teams also maintain close, ongoing partnership with families: co-define intervention goals, guide home practice, and support both developmental and community-based progress.

Furthermore, recognizing the emotional dimensions of physical re/habilitation, the teams collaborate with Emotional Resilience teams to deliver unique, integrated motor–emotional programs.

Meshi’s physiotherapy programs aim to expand functional capacity and foster independence and autonomy, by:

Composition and Practice

Each Meshi center employs the Meshi Approach through a dedicated physiotherapy team—tailored to its age group and clinical profile. Licensed physiotherapists develop intervention plans and deliver treatments in both individual and group settings.

Teams include therapists with advanced degrees and additional clinical expertise—such as in orthopedics, respiratory and postural rehabilitation, and pediatric subspecialties. They are also supported by rehabilitation aides, qualified in therapeutic exercise, who help embed motor skills into daily routines.

Headed by a senior physiotherapist and guided by senior health and rehabilitation professionals, Meshi’s physiotherapy teams lead innovative interdisciplinary collaborations and deliver personalized plans that promote each child’s multidisciplinary goals.

Advanced Tech & Tailored Solutions

Meshi’s physiotherapy teams harness advanced technologies to drive tangible progress — seamlessly integrating them into clinical practice and everyday routines. These include virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), Spider Therapy and TheraSuit therapy. Each Meshi center features a fully equipped, fully accessible gym—specially designed to meet the needs of all age groups and motor functioning levels.

Meshi also ensures high availability of customizable tools—including various types of standers, adaptive bicycles with specialized add-ons, and individually tailored belts and vests for chairs and walkers.

Physiotherapy teams carefully match these tools to each child’s individual needs and goals— going as far as developing fully personalized solutions, in collaboration with Meshi’s Custom Assistive Solutions Hub. The high availability, variety, and innovation of these resources enable meaningful movement experiences—even for children facing significant mobility challenges— while advancing a broad range of developmental, therapeutic, and rehabilitative objectives.

Innovation at Meshi

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation at Meshi

Meshi offers a holistic, on-site rehabilitation program for children recovering from surgeries and orthopedic or neurological medical interventions. Rooted in the Meshi Approach, the program is uniquely designed to deliver advanced, intensive rehabilitative care within the child’s familiar setting—without transitioning to a rehabilitation hospital or disrupting the family’s routine. Returning immediately to their Meshi center, each child receives comprehensive care while supported by familiar caregivers, social connections, and an educational environment—all of which are essential for their well-being.

In alignment with the medical guidance, Meshi’s multidisciplinary team develops a personalized, comprehensive plan for each child, while supporting the family through all therapeutic, emotional, and bureaucratic aspects. The program is endorsed by healthcare authorities and has coverage arrangements with Israeli health funds.

Meshi’s holistic approach to complex medical interventions also includes the Pre-Surgical Preparation program and the complementary Post-Surgical Rehabilitation for Children with Arthrogryposis.

Spider Therapy (Bungee UEU)

Spider Therapy, also referred to as Bungee therapy, is an intensive, hands-off physiotherapy method that allows children with neuromuscular disorders or developmental delays to engage in new body positions, experience weight bearing, and practice motor skills they cannot otherwise perform.

This advanced method is carried out using the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU or “Spider Cage”)—a specialized device that consists of a three-sided mesh frame with a system of pulleys, weights, and elastic bungee cords. Fully adaptable to the child’s physical profile and therapy goals, it enables safe suspension or anchoring at varying heights and resistance levels—enhancing strength, coordination, and balance. By activating specific muscle groups across a wide range of effort, while minimizing strain on the spine and joints, this Bungee system offers the child a novel sense of body awareness and movement.

Spider Therapy complements other innovative methods at Meshi, such as TheraSuit and Virtual Reality–enhanced therapies.

Specialized Therapy Gym for Early Childhood

Meshi’s Early Childhood Development Center offers a therapy gym uniquely designed for infants and toddlers facing motor disabilities or developmental delays.

This fully accessible, age-appropriate setup is tailored to the distinct sensory-motor needs and milestones of early childhood. It features a wide range of specialized training and physical therapy devices, such as a fully adaptable treadmill and rehabilitative crawling scooters. In line with the Meshi Approach, some of the equipment is customized or developed by Meshi’s Custom Assistive Solutions Hub to meet the specific and evolving needs of each child.

Similar purpose-built therapy gyms are available across all Meshi centers, enabling daily use of advanced physiotherapy methods and tools, such as Spider Therapy, that support exceptional therapeutic outcomes.
